A) Why you chose your blog handle- JUS420ampierso isn’t too original but I like to keep all of my class stuff as simple as I can. It is simply the class and my username. No confusion, easy to remember! I like to be very organized so that can never be an excuse.
B) Your major and year in school- I am a junior here at ASU and I am currently a dual major in Communication and Justice Studies
C) Why you chose this class and what you hope to get out of the course- I chose this course because the name and description quickly caught me. Also, I have never had a female professor for a Justice Course. I am a woman seeking a justice related work field. I hope to learn more about woman’s struggles and strides that they have made in the work force. Then, provide a brief discussion on what you think is meant by the idea of women, work and justice.
When I hear these three words put together the first thing I think of is woman’s rights overall. The struggles that woman have gone through to achieve equality in and out of the work force. I hope we will learn how a woman’s role in a justice related field will be. I think this class will talk about the many different gender boundaries and how they can arise more frequently in a work setting. The certain issues that personally draw me towards justice are those that personally affect or touch me in some way. The ones that I know are directly hurting a certain group, specially a race or gender. Issues of justice that are important to me almost always encompass a group of people not just a single person, I am interested in international and global law. Justice to me looks like an equal balance of discipline. My favorite analogy of justice is a tug of war rope, always pulling back and forth. Give and take... Injustice to me is when someone is directly treated unlike any of his kind. Injustice is when the balance is over powered dramatically on one side of the rope. I think all of the issues that I am interested in relate to the notion of women, work, and justice. Women are a large group of people whose roles have changed drastically over the past few decades. I am interested in seeing the path that woman have taken in the justice working field.
